Author Interview: Dark Fantasy Author Danielle DeVor

Hello there, Owl Readers! Next up in our Introduce an Author in August series is Dark Fantasy and Horror Author Danielle DeVor! Her novel, SORROW'S POINT, features a defrocked priest fighting to save a little girl from demonic possession. Time to read all about Danielle and her books in her own words! And don't forget to enter our contest at the end!

1. Tell our readers a little about yourself and your work.
I’m a quirky girl from West Virginia who loves all things horror. Give me vampires, ghosts, werewolves, and other things that go bump in the night, and I’m happy as a clam. My writing reflects that as well as my sense of humor. I don’t think I’ve written anything that doesn’t have one character that provides some element of comic relief.

2. What genres do you write or want to write in the future?
I write fantasy, horror, and now sci-fi for both young adults and adults. I’ve also dabbled with YA Paranormal Romance and would like to sink my feet into that again. And, I have an idea for a historical. But the historical requires a lot of research and is many moons off.

3. What attracted you to the City Owl Press?
You want a publisher that has a desire to not only make a book the best it can be, but care enough to get word about the book out into the world. City Owl Press is amazing at that.

4. What has your experience been like working with City Owl Press?
Awesome. Seriously. I’ve seen the mock-up of the cover for Sorrow’s Point and it is just really flipping cool.

5. Where do you see yourself in 5, 10 years?
This is a hard one. I would definitely say I will still be writing. Hard to say what exactly. I never know what the next story is going to be until I get an odd inspiration from something.

6. Tell our readers why they should pick up your book.
SORROW'S POINT is one of those weird stories. It’s about exorcism and told from the point of view of the exorcist. But, Jimmy Holiday isn’t your ordinary exorcist. He’s something else.

SORROW'S POINT hits bookshelves this December, but you'll be able to
pre-order now only at City Owl press!
