October Query Tips for Writers - Tip #2

Here's our next tip for how to write a great query letter.

Before sending in your query, make sure to look at the submission guidelines, as well as at what an agent or editor is specifically looking for. Make a connection with them by using that information. For example, if an editor states that they are looking for a great urban fantasy with a unique twist and a strong heroine, address in your query letter how your novel fits with those requests. You may even mention that you saw what the editor wants and think that your novel will interest them "because..." This may instantaneously create a more personal connection that will make the editor want to see more.
